Outdoor Education Parent meeting Medical Concerns Parents of students who require medication of any type must bring the medication in the original container to Susan Berlin, Health Room (301-8972264), by Friday November 21, 2014 (the Friday before Thanksgiving). All prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications must be submitted with the MCPS medication form. This form must be completed in its entirety by parents/guardians. Pharmacy labels must correspond with physician's orders, and the safety seal on all OTC’s must remain intact. Safety/Discipline A primary consideration in executing a successful program in outdoor education is the safety of each child. The entire staff is committed to this objective. It is the responsibility of each student to know the rules and to follow them. Breaking a rule that jeopardizes the safety of any student will not be tolerated. There will be no warnings or second chances when safety is involved. Students are expected to follow the rules and regulations of NBMS and Skycroft while participating in this special program. In the case of a serious infraction, parents will be called and required to come for their child immediately. Weather Policy Programs will run normally regardless of the weather, unless there is a two hour delay or if school is closed. If inclement weather is forecast while students are in residence, the OEEP supervisor, transportation, and the school administration will determine the safest course of action, which could include transporting students home early to avoid a major weather event. Delayed opening on the first day of the program: Students scheduled to attend Skycroft site will be rescheduled. School cancellation on the first day of the program: The experience will be rescheduled into available time lots. School cancellation on the last day of the program: Students will be transported from the sites as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. Delayed opening or cancellation on the second day of the program: Students and staff will normally continue the program, although the OEEP supervisor, school administration and transportation office will decide on the safest course of action.
