The Reactivity Activity
What is reactivity? What makes one thing more reactive than another? Let’s find
out.
You have been given two gloves, labeled “1” and “2.”
Put them on so that the strips of white are in the palms of your hands.
There are bags containing potential ‘reactants’ around the room.
Place both of your gloved hands into a bag. Gently squeeze the contents of the bag
and then pull your hands out.
Did anything stick to either of your gloves? If so, the contents of the bag just
reacted with your gloves
Go around the room and test every bag to see if its contents are reactive.
Record notes describing what you did to test for reactivity and the order that
you tested the bags.
Record your findings in this table. Put a check in the column you think best
describes the reaction.
