Vacation
When it comes to selecting a vacation site, do members of your family have different opinions?
You may be attracted to the excitement of an urban area, your partner may prefer
spending some quiet time in the outdoor and the children may be looking for something new
to do that will keep them occupied.
Providence, Rhode Island is a destination you should consider which will match every one of
these interests. For those who enjoy the bustle of a city, Providence has a lot to offer. Although
a city of only 200,000 people, it has a major regional theatre and half a dozen stage
companies. Providence is home to Brown University and the internationally renowned Rhode
Island School of Design and other small colleges. These not only offer lovely walks among
historic buildings, but also provide cultural enrichment for the city.
There are popular shopping areas, cafes and other specialty stores. Right in the heart of the
town stands the Arcade, America’s first enclosed shopping mall. The restaurants of Providence
are famous, featuring not only native seafood, but international cuisine like Portuguese, Thai,
Indian and Chinese. Providence is also home to several world class chefs who offer their unique
creations.
For the person who prefers a peaceful afternoon in the countryside, Providence is located within
minutes of several state parks and wildlife refuges. Without even leaving the city limits, you can
spend all day in Roger Williams Park, enjoying flower gardens, lakes, a zoo and a natural
history museum.
