Geophysicist Position Summary The incumbent will be engaged in prospect and well generation based on well data, seismic interpretation and mapping. Job Functions Undertake seismic interpretations including velocity analysis and depth conversion, fault interpretation and time and depth map construction to produce a suite of maps to evaluate prospects as potential drilling candidates and identify potential appraisal targets on the discoveries in the area. Use impedance inversion data and pre and post-stack attribute data to characterise the reservoir as appropriate. Utilise well, seismic, geological, and other potential field data types as required. Utilise geophysical tools as necessary to enhance subsurface understanding to manage risk and uncertainty on drill candidates Geophysical evaluation and input into the following: o Exploration prospect evaluation o Pre-development evaluation Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics/Geology/Geoscience or related field. 5 to 10 years of seismic interpretation experience Working knowledge of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria used in carrying out a sequence of geophysical tasks Working knowledge of seismic acquisition and processing. Basic understanding of seismic stratigraphy Demonstrated ability to incorporate horizontal workflow procedures Proficient at forward modeling to enhance stratigraphic understanding Capable of working independently without supervision Skilled at critical thinking, logic and reasoning to identity strengths and weaknesses in workflows and effectively ensures overall conception, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of each project Able to work and communicate effectively with upper management, co-workers, clients and other external contacts.
