People Working Cooperatively Receives Grants for Northern
Kentucky Emergency Home Repairs
Secured Grants to Provide Homeowners with Crucial Service
CINCINNATI – People Working Cooperatively (PWC) a local nonprofit that provides critical
home repairs, weatherization, modification and maintenance services to help residents stay safely
in their homes, announced today it has secured $25,000 in grant funds for emergency home
repairs in Northern Kentucky.
PWC received a grant of $5,000 for emergency home repairs from the Scripps Howard
Foundation that will be used for the emergency repair program for low-income homeowners in
Northern Kentucky. The Scripps Howard Foundation works to connect people who care with
causes that improve the quality of life in the community by advancing cultural, educational and
social opportunities
In addition, PWC received a grant of $20,000 for emergency home repairs in Northern Kentucky
from Weathering the Economic Storm, a partnership of funders, managed by The Greater
Cincinnati Foundation (GCF).
The Weathering the Economic Storm Grant was awarded as part of the “Weathering the
Economic Storm” initiative created by GCF, a community-wide response to help individuals,
families and nonprofit organizations move toward economic stability
“Emergency home repairs are PWC’s most crucial service, ensuring the safety and security of
the home’s occupants,” says Jock Pitts, president of PWC. “This includes everything from
broken water pipes and lack of heat to non-functioning plumbing and hazardous electrical
issues.”
According to Pitts, this financial support for emergency home repairs means that more people in
Northern Kentucky will be able to stay in their homes where they want to be. “These people do
not have another option to address their emergency issue,” he says. “We are extremely thankful
to the Scripps Howard Foundation and Greater Cincinnati Fund for this critical support.”
