Church Manager Job Advert Pack – January 2014 Church Manager Our Vision We are looking to recruit someone who shares our common vision and will help us as we seek to serve God in Lutterworth, Cotesbach and Bitteswell. We need someone highly gifted in organisation and committed to working with people. We are a group of three churches going through a number of changes and we want to bring in an experienced church manager to help provide the organisational backbone to our organisation. Your employer will be Lutterworth PCC, and the main focus of your work will be as part of St Mary’s Church, Lutterworth. You will work closely with our incumbent Rev’d Charlie Styles and other members of the team. Responsibilities Member of Staff The Church Manager will be a key member of the Staff, participating in Staff Meetings – keeping notes and disseminating to a wider team. You will work with the Parochial Church Council and Standing Committee to ensure compliance with all necessary legal requirements and ensure best practice in all area of charity governance. Communication Hub The Church Manager will be the public face of the Church Office, located in Lutterworth Church Office daily to: Be available to all who drop in Answer the phone Answer email and post Act asa central point for the dissemination of information to and from different members of the team. Maintain the flow of accurate information – and be proactive in keeping everyone up-to-date. Update the church website and calendar. Publish notices and maintain noticeboards. One of the core elements of communication in our benefice is our weekly newsletter, which is published in both paper and email form. St Mary’s Church Our church building in Lutterworth is busy throughout the week, used both by the church family and community groups. It will be the responsibility of the Church Manager to: See that the church is well-maintained, arranging necessary inspections, repairs, services etc. Oversee the church cleaner and working with our many volunteers We are currently planning some improvements to the church building and it is likely that the Church Manager will play a key role supporting the team leading the project. Church Bookings The Church Manager will handle all requests for events and bookings at St Mary’s and the Church Gate Centre. It is necessary to follow a strict routine when so doing. It will be the responsibility of the Church Manager to liaise with all hirers, ensuring that they understand their obligations and dealing with any issues. Office Management Our Church Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the Church Office and Work with other staff to maintain a tidy and efficient space – welcoming to every visitor. Monitor printer toner levels and re-order toner as required. Monitor stationary stocks and re-order as required Receive and progress requests for printing. Church of England Ministry As a united benefice of three Church of England parishes, we have a number of important opportunities to serve our communities. Wedding Funerals Baptisms Churchyard Memorials The Church Manager will play a key role in each of these ministries, in collaboration with our minister. All require sensitivity, efficiency and some special knowledge and training. (Necessary training can be provided.) Incumbent’s Personal Assistant The Church Manager will also take on the role of Personal Assistant to the incumbent Rev’d Charlie Styles To liaise with the incumbent and concerned parties to receive bookings for the diary and to ensure the relevant paperwork for meetings and appointments is prepared. To undertake and complete the incumbent’s personal paperwork, maintaining complete confidentiality in all matters. To act (behind the scenes) to ensure the incumbent is cognisant of information pertinent to his role. Other Many of the requirements of our ministry changes and we need the Church Manager to be flexible to respond to the needs of our church and community. We expect this role to develop over time depending on the person who fills it.
