Ancient Civilization Project!
You will be doing a research project about a civilization that we have not studied yet.
You may choose from Egypt, Rome, Greece, the Maya, the Aztecs or the Inca. Other civilizations
must be approved through Mrs. Brown. You will choose one topic from that civilization to
research (for example pyramids, Julius Caesar, the Coliseum or Machu Picchu). You may work
on your own or in a group of 2 or 3 people. You may work with students who are in another
class, but then they will be presenting alone in their homeroom. Presentations should be
between 5 and 10 minutes. Social Studies class time this week will be devoted to researching
and creating your project. Students will turn in and present their projects Monday, Tuesday or
Wednesday of next week. Presenters will be chosen randomly from a hat, so all students must
be ready on Monday to present. If a student is not ready when they are called, they will have a
10% deduction on their final grade.
You will turn in:
Your group’s handwritten NOTES– 25 pts
A BIBLIOGRAPHY of your sources- 10 pts
(with at least 2 online resources, 2 books)
A POWERPOINT to teach the class- 25 pts
(Must include pictures, audio or video and color)
A VISUAL AID about your subject- 25 pts
(This can be a model of a building, dressing up as a person, a
diorama of an event, a skit or song performed for the class, a well
done and informative video, or an interactive activity or game)
