Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology College of Education INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENTAL SCHOOL Course Number: Math 3 Course Title: Geometry Credit(s) Earned: 1 unit Course Description: This is a 1 unit subject offered to the second year students of the Integrated Developmental School. This course deals with the measurement, properties and relationships of points, lines, angles, planes, and solids. It provides students with the opportunity to develop mathematical reasoning. Reasoning mathematically means developing and testing conjectures through Deduction. Students will learn how to follow a proof and to determine whether a proof is valid or invalid. They will learn to write simple proofs and some difficult proofs. Algebra skills will also be integrated throughout each chapter and reinforced within the Geometry exercises. Objectives: At the end of the course the students are expected to: 1. acquire information about geiometric figures in the plane; 2. have an understanding of the deductive method as a way of thinking and skills in applying this method to mathematical situations; 3. improve their ability to analyze mathematical situations; 4. develop their logical and creative thinking; 5. solve geometric and related problems; 6. use Algebra as a tool in Geometry; 7. develop self-confidence, honesty, diligence, cleanliness, and other virtues; 8. learn to appreciate Mathematics; 9. relate Geometry to real life situation.
