Delaney, MSSW Emergency Management Advisor (901) 416-4227 delaneyla@scsk12.org To: Elementary School Principals From: Linda A. Delaney Re: Updating of School Floor plans The number one priority of Emergency Management is making sure students and staff are safe and well prepared for learning in a secure environment. We have received a State Department of Education Safe Schools Grant that will allow Shelby County Schools (SCS) to update all school floor plans. The floor plans will be updated to include classroom numbers, office room numbers and the purpose(s) of each room. This will give first responders (Fire Department, Shelby County Schools Security, Memphis Police Department, Sheriff Department and the City and Shelby County Emergency Management Department) an updated and more acute view of your school’s layout in the event of an emergency. The architect, ReJohn Lartigue, or his staff from The Crump Architect Firm will be visiting your school to update your school’s floor plan. Their visit will not interrupt the learning process. They will arrive at your school and check in at the office between the hours of 7:30 – 8:30 am or 11:00 am – 12:00 pm during the month indicated below. Mr. Lartigue or his staff may contact you directly for an appointment time. If possible, please have the Plant Manager and/or a staff member available at the time of their visit to unlock locked doors during the walk thru. Attached below is a tentative schedule of Mr. Lartigue and /or his staff’s planned visit to your school. If your elementary school is not listed, your floor plan will be updated over the summer. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Regards, Linda A. Delaney c.
