August 12, 2014 Dear Elementary Parents, Guardians and Caregivers: This year (2014–2015), Lexington County School District One students in kindergarten through the fifth grade will again receive an Elementary Leadership Skills Report Card each nine weeks. Developed by a Lexington One team of teachers, guidance counselors and other educators, these Elementary Leadership Skills Report Cards will enable our teachers to separate students’ behavior from academics. A student’s regular report card grade then reflects what your child actually learns in a specific content area, while their Elementary Leadership Skills Report Card provides feedback on your child’s behavior. In fact, our teachers use this report card as a teaching tool as they work with students. With this letter, we have included a copy of an explanation of the Elementary Leadership Skills, as well as a copy of the actual Elementary Leadership Skills Report Card that teachers will use. We encourage you to use this information when talking with your child about leadership and learning. In Lexington One, it is our goal that all of our students be college and career ready when they graduate. By using these Elementary Leadership Skills Report Cards in elementary school, we are able to help guide our students toward the skills they need to be successful in a 21st century work place. If you have any questions and/or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher or me at 803-8215101. Sincerely, Greg Watchinski Principal
