REGISTRATION RENEWAL STEPS FOR REGISTERED PHARMACY TECHNICIANS *If you are a CERTIFIED Pharmacy Technician then you must follow the steps indicated to you by the SC Board of Pharmacy to renew this type of advanced Pharmacy Technician certification.* NABP e-Profile Creation (Complete immediately if have not previously done so) Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists are required to set up a profile through the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy that will be used to track Continuing Education Requirements you complete each year. You will need to do the following: Step #1: Visit the following website and set up your NABP e-profile http://www.nabp.net/programs/cpe-monitor/cpe-monitor-service/technicians Step #2: Save this created NABP number in an easily accessible location Step #3: Use this number any time asked for your “NABP Number “ when registering for Continuing Education activities Continuing Education (CE) Specifications (All CE hours must be completed prior to renewing your Pharmacy Technician Registration before June 30) Ten hours of ACPE or CME category-1 continuing education are required each license year for renewal. Of the 10 hours, a minimum of 4 hours must be “live” hours. CE must be taken before renewing a registration each year. o Remember that “live” hours can be in the format of a live webinar where you can ask questions or where you physically attend live in person. There are no exemptions to the CE requirement for technicians. Technicians may take CE that is designated for pharmacists (P) or technicians (T). Example: CE designated for Pharmacists will have a “P” in the UAN number 430-000-092-021-L01-P Use the ACPE UAN# to determine if a CE is live (L), home (H) or combination (C). Example: Live CE will have an “L” in the UAN number 430-000-092-021-L01-T. All CME-Category 1 hours are live hours. Hours completed in excess of requirements may be carried forward in the next registration year but may not be carried forward for more than one registration year.
