Substitutions: Substitutions for products in this section may be submitted to the architect and/or acoustical consultant no later than seven (7) working days prior to the bid due date. Substitutions shall only be considered if submitted with complete information including acoustic data and a sample not smaller than 12’ x 12” showing product design and finish. DESCRIPTION A. Design Requirements: The product design shall be subject to the limitations of the materials and manufacturing process. Products may be shaped as square, rectangular or other shapes upon approval of the manufacturer. Edges may be shaped at 90, 45 and 30 degrees. Identify all applicable features and options. Cross out any inapplicable features or options. Shop Drawings: The contractor shall produce and submit shop drawings of products and suspension or mounting systems overlaid on base drawings (interior elevations or reflected ceiling plans) supplied electronically by the architect. Show overall layout with dimensions and references to details as necessary for penetrations, joints, ends and intersections with other materials or building components. Submit schedule of all quantities, sizes, hole patterns, edge banding, borders, veneers and finishes. Field-verify site conditions with dimensions shown on shop drawings. Samples: Minimum 12” x 12” sample of specified fabric and finish if specified. Certifications: Manufacturers’ certifications that products comply with specified requirements, including laboratory reports showing compliance with specified tests and standards. Qualifications: Manufacturer and installation contractor shall have a minimum of three years experience with similar systems. Single Source: All products under this section shall be supplied by a single manufacturer to ensure consistency in product size and finish. Pre-Installation Meeting: Installing contractor shall organize and conduct pre-installation meetings with all other trades to coordinate substrate conditions, conditioning of the space (temperature & humidity), and elements attaching to, penetrating through or concealed above/behind work in this section. SUBMITTALS A. 1.09 Random Incidence Sound Absorption Coefficients (a): Tested by independent testing facility according to ASTM C 423 specifications with 1/3 octave results with both NRC specifications provided. SAA Total specifications shall also be provided: Shipping and Handling: Deliver all manufacturers products to the job site in the original packaging with all components intact and inspected for any damages in shipping. Do not open until all specifications have been met. Storage: All products are to be stored in a safe, dry location with no potential for exposure to moisture, staining or excess heat or cold and allowed to acclimate to climate. Site Acceptance: Insure that all product packaging has been inspected and found free of damages, follow all criteria for storage as listed above. PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Project Phase Completion: All manufacturers products should be installed in the finish phase of the project, generally after all paint, dust, flooring and other trades have been substantially completed. C. 1.12 Product Acclamation: For a minimum period of forty-eight (48) hours and prior to unpacking or installing any wood products, allow both the installation area and the wood products to stabilize in temperature and humidity levels that are representative of the final temperature and humidity levels expected after building completion and occupation. Product Handling: Handle fabric-covered panels carefully so as to avoid scratching, denting or damaging the fabric, substrate or other portions of the unit(s). WARRANTY A. The manufacturer’s warranty should be submitted to the Owner(s) or Owner(s) Representative upon delivery of the products to the site. All warranties are effective from the date of delivery to the site. The warranty for all products should be a minimum of one year and include product replacement in the event of defect, warping out of tolerances and finishes. 1.13 MAINTENANCE A. Maintenance: The manufacturer’s instructions for the cleaning and maintenance of the products shall be delivered to the Owner(s) and/or the Owner’s Representative upon delivery to the site. Ceiling mounting requires construction adhesive and temporary holding screws or brackets. FINISHES A. Manufacturers Finishes: Architect shall choose acoustic fabrics from list provided by the manufacturer or supply his or her own suggested fabric list. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLERS A. 3.02 Installing contractor shall have a minimum of three (3) years successful experience installing wood ceiling and wall systems in similar applications using similar mounting techniques or suspension systems. EXAMINATION Project / 2-9-2016 15152 - 3 Acoustic Wall/Ceiling Diffusers A. 3.03 INSTALLATION A. 3.04 The installer shall make every effort to insure a proper fit for all products while installing. In the event that adjustments shall be necessary the installer shall follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions for making these adjustments. CLEANING A. 3.06 All products shall be installed in a workmanlike fashion and by professional installers only. All products should be test fit prior to installation to insure proper fit and finish. In addition, all cavities, spaces and other locations provided by others shall be fully inspected and measured to insure that they meet the architects specifications for the installation of the manufacturer’s products. ADJUSTING A. 3.05 Site Conditions: The installer shall verify all manufacturers conditions for site conditions and insure that all conditions are optimal for installation of the products based on the information provided by the manufacturer. This shall include, but not be limited to, the substantial completion of all work that would cause dust, paint, moisture and/or other features that may be harmful to the manufacturers products. All manufacturer’s products shall be cleaned using a vacuum with a soft bristle brush only after installation. Smudges and other debris may be removed with a moist (not wet) cloth with no cleaning agents to be used in the process. Consult the manufacturer if further cleaning is necessary. PROTECTION A. All products should generally be mounted as to minimize human interaction with the products when possible.
