Program Plan-MAT in Reading
Department of Reading & Language Arts
(revised10/07)
Program Plan: If you are teaching full time, you should plan to take one course per semester. At this rate you can complete the program in two
and a half years. Take RDG 500 as your first course (or second if it is not offered the semester you begin). Then take RDG 571 and RDG 575 (in
either order) during the next two semesters. Follow these core courses with three elective courses before the RDG 632/633 sequence. This
sequence must be taken in consecutive semesters from the same instructor. If you are planning to complete the program with the masters
project, RDG 699, you need to meet with a full-time faculty member prior to the semester you plan to register to discuss your proposed project
and obtain permission to register. If you intend to complete the two-course option instead of the project you may take the additional electives
prior to the 632/633 sequence.
If you have questions about this sequence or are registered for one of the combined programs please check with your adviser.
The following tentative year round schedule indicates the usual schedule for core and elective courses.
