Study Abroad to South Africa Summer II, 2014 July 7- August 7, 2014 Dr. Lori Czop Assaf lassaf@txstate.edu This is the only study abroad program specifically designed to support students in the College of Education. The program provides over 40 hours of small group and one on one teaching opportunities for all students mentored and co-taught by Dr. Assaf. The students we work with are all English learners therefore students who participate in this study abroad course will not only learn ESL strategies and theories, they will also apply those strategies on a daily basis. Other benefits include personal and ongoing interaction with local community members, guest speakers, and excursions that build on the historical importance of the apartheid, Nelson Mandela, poverty, and inequities in schools.
