Creating a DOK 3-4 Strategic Thinking Classroom EMPOWERING YOUR STUDENTS THROUGH THE SELF-QUESTIONING & STRATEGIC THINKING SKILLS SYSTEM Presented by: Sandy Adams Research has long supported the consistent use of modeled thinking, gradual release, conferencing, and strategic thinking strategies as fundamental to student success with the new generation assessments. This 2-day PD workshop will allow you to empower your students by providing specific strategies and systems to implement: Strategic thinking (DOK) Deliberate strategies for text-dependent Text complexity & rigor to use with practice Self-questioning skills to improve lecture understanding Self-questioning skills for use with text-dependent questions Training in modeled thinking & gradual release models Feedback Strategies as a Reinforcement System Training in Norms of Collaboration method Growth mindset development through conferencing Teachers will be provided with a binder designed to help them create a DOK 3-4 Classroom, where strategic, collaborative thinking is aligned to standards and 21st century expectations of learning.
