2012-2013 ESGT Precipitation Situations

Situation #1: After a very cold night (below freezing) we have a morning with nimbostratus clouds, air temperature near ground 5°C, and a ground temperature that is less than 0°C.

Situation #2: On a summer day in Maryland we see a large cumulonimbus cloud. The temperature of air close to the ground is 80°F/27°C. There are large convection current within the cumulonimbus cloud.

Situation #3: After a cool night (35°F/2°C) the morning warms slightly (40°F/4°C) and we see stratus clouds that seem to be thickening and darkening.

Situation #4: A cool summer night (50°F/10°C) leads to a beautiful summer day with high temperatures around

75°F/24°C. In the morning we see stratocumulus clouds that seem to be thickening throughout the morning.

Situation #5: A spring day with high temperatures of

70°F/21°C with cumulus clouds throughout the sky.

Situation #6: A Maryland winter day with temperatures reaching 37°F/3°C with nimbostratus clouds.
