planned work experience, approved by the student’s adviser as appropriate to the

problems, generate ideas, and plan for specific actions to be taken. The technical
content for the course will be derived from the student’s business environment.
Course Objectives
Students successfully completing this course will be able to do the following –
 Use the terminology of the organization in explaining observations of business
practices.
 Analyze the operations of a business organization.

General Policies
This course uses operating policies to guide the student. General Policies for the course are
listed in this section and the remaining policies are described in the Grading Policies section. All
questions regarding the course policies should be asked (post on the Discussion Board) by the
end of the second week of the course in order to obtain clarity regarding the various subjects in
question, ensure a good performance record, and to maximize the potential benefits of this
course.

Each student is to adhere to the UNCG Academic Integrity Policy. This policy applies
to all participation activities throughout the course including all assignment reports.
Read, especially, the following topics: Cheating, Plagiarism, Misuse of Academic
Resources, Falsification, and Facilitating Academic Dishonesty. Go to
[http://academicintegrity.uncg.edu/] for the Academic Integrity policy.
Each student must have access to the Internet and be able to receive/submit
information through the UNCG’s Blackboard.
In order for this course count in the student’s degree program as a course in the
major/concentration, the student must have received approval of the intended
workplace activity as being appropriate for the major/concentration (if that is one of
the student’s objectives for this course). A record of approval is to be submitted to the
Bryan Undergraduate Student Services Office, Room 232, for inclusion in the
student’s folder and later entry in the student’s Degree Evaluation. If this procedure is
not followed, the course will count as a free elective, not as a course in the
major/concentration.
Each student is expected to be able to document a minimum of 100 hours at the
designated workplace as reported on the Student Experiential Education Form.
All assignments are expected to be submitted on time and according to directions.
The student is to retain backup copies of reports/forms submitted that address the
assignments for the course until the course grade is received and the student has no
questions or issues regarding the course. (The date for the end of retention of the
course reports/forms could be as early as June 25, 2008, or up to 12 months from June
25, 2008, depending on each student’s need for information.)
Any report submitted after the assigned submission date will not be valued as much
as an appropriate paper submitted on time.
Prolonged absences (in this case, missed, multiple assignments) must be supported
with documentation from the UNCG Student Academic Services Office. Failure to
follow this policy will result in a lower grade than if the student adhered to the
assignment deadline(s).
All written communications should adhere to conventions of standard, edited English
such as grammar, usage, word choice, complete sentences, spelling, and punctuation.
Reports should contain the following information on the first page: student name, the
number of each weekly report, and the date the report is submitted. (For the Business
Report, the last assignment, include title of paper, name, and date.)

All assignments, except the employer’s evaluation of the student, are to be submitted
via Blackboard (after making a backup copy, send the employer’s evaluation by
USPS).
Insurance policies, especially regarding liability, are available for students enrolled in
this course. Information on this subject as well as the cost of the insurance and
required filing procedure can be obtained from Gretchen Pugh, Internship Programs,
Career Services Center, UNCG, 336.256.0406, Fax 336.334.5185,

Grading Policies
The professor’s goal for this course is that everyone will succeed to the extent that each
person attains his/her personal goals for this course. Good communication is a key. Student
questions should be submitted on the Discussion Board; in turn, the question will be answered
via the Discussion Board.




It is the student’s responsibility to be knowledgeable of the required contents for each
assignment; due dates of the assignments; and his/her status in regard to assignments
submitted or not submitted.
If an assignment has not been recorded by the professor, the student then must
resubmit the paper with explanation.
All assignments must be successfully completed and recorded in order for the student
to be eligible for one of several passing grades in the course.
If the student is incomplete in submissions, the course-grade will be an “F.” Absences
from participation in the course (not submitting timely assignments) at any time will
negatively impact the student’s performance.
**Please note that a list of the Course Activities will be posted shortly**
