Production Engineering Lead Job Reference: LM People Job Code/Title: Location: Programme / Functional Group: LMUKA11185 L2405I / Operations Engineering Mgr Ampthill Ampthill - Multiple Description of Business Environment: The Operations Engineering department, which forms part of the Operations Function at LMUK Ampthill, covers a broad range of responsibilities including Manufacturing / Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Manufacturing Configuration Control and Manufacturing Standards. Specific Job Description: Reporting directly into the Ampthill Operations Engineering Manager, shall act as the Operations Engineering Lead for one of the lines of business within the Ampthill organisation. Oversees collaborations with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing functions to ensure suitable manufacturing processes are established to meet Programme and Business goals. Provides day to day management of a team of Engineers within assigned Programmes / Business Area which includes but is not limited to the following; Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling necessary to meet Programme requirements. Oversee’s the design and fabrication of tools and equipment that affect product performance. Investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained. Provides guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Oversees activities undertaken by assigned staff to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with command media Establish suitable key performance indicators and monitors performance of assigned staff ensure service level agreements (SLA’s) and Programme requirements are achieved Establishes and maintains a suitable governance structure for the management of activities (i.e. Mission Directed Work Teams (MDWT)) Provides technical guidance to engineers regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques to meet the Programme requirements. Acts as senior representation at Programme meets Ensures adherence to Programme EAC baselines and associated staff demands (i.e. via RMT demands) Oversees all new Proposals for assigned Programme / Business Area and ensures adherence to Operations Tollgate process. Attends BA EPP’s where appropriate. Attends and provides summary of performance at Functional MDWT Level 3 meets. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of a broad range of Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering processes and act as advocate of these principles within assigned Programme / Business Area Required Skills: Experienced Manufacturing Engineer / Engineering Manager who has had involvement in large manufacturing Programmes, through Design, Development and Production In depth experience within large Mechanical Assembly / Integration activities Experience in developing / maturing and managing a Build approach for complex manufacturing / assembly operations Detailed understanding of Manufacturing Systems Degree in relevant Engineering / Manufacturing discipline Standard Job Description: Manages activities involving the producibility and quality of the product, and the processes that directly pertain, encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: CIM, failure analysis, industrial, manufacturing, manufacturing equipment, process, product, quality assurance, reliability, supplier quality, test, and tool.
