Opportunity School Level System 2013-2014 Level 1: Transition Level (70% for 10 Days) Students will begin to develop the concept of what Respect, Re-vitalized, Re-Engaged, and Empowered means at the Opportunity School Students demonstrate positive change as evidenced by choosing to earn 70% of their daily points for 10 Days Anytime a student has not met the level II requirements within the first 15 days of attendance a parent conference will be held and a new behavioral and support plan may be completed. A review of the students behavioral and discipline history will be completed. Further behavioral and academic interventions will be developed, implemented, and documented. If an unacceptable pattern of behavior continues for an additional 15 days following the parent conference the student’s placement at The Opportunity School will be in jeopardy. If no significant changes in behavior are noted during the transition level and office discipline referrals continue, a review of the student’s placement will be presented to the Superintendent’s office. If petition to go to the next level is denied the student may petition for review again after no less than 5 additional days in attendance on Level 1. Level 1 students are not eligible for privileges. Student will begin to collect his/her power plan materials. No petition will be accepted without the required portfolio materials in the student’s possession. Student must be escorted at all times Opportunity School Level System 2013-2014 Level 2: Transformation Level (77% for 15 Days) Students are able to define Respect, Re-vitalized, Re-Engaged, and Empowered. Students demonstrate positive change as evidenced by choosing to earn 77% of their daily points for 15 Days Once the student has moved to Level 2, it is the expectation of The Opportunity School that the student will continue to progress through the level system. If the student demonstrates a regression to Level 1 behaviors and office discipline referrals increase, a written warning will be provided to the student and mailed to the parent. Behavior will be evaluated daily on the point sheet. If behaviors continue the student will drop 1 day for every 2 consecutive days they do not make their level. A final review of behavior will be conducted after 1 full week. If the negative behavior is continuing the student will drop back to Level 1 Day 1. Only one return to Level 1 is allowed per student. If behavior continues a review of the student’s placement will be presented to the Superintendent’s Office. Immediate return to Level 1 is possible based on the severity of the disciplinary infraction. Above procedures will apply at this time. Student on Level 2 may earn Friday celebration. Students must be escorted at all times. Must be developing their power plan and show progress. Opportunity School Level System 2013-2014 Level 3: Accomplished Level (85% for 25 Days). Students will be able to describe and demonstrate what Respect, Revitalized, Re-Engaged, and Empowered means. Students demonstrate positive change as evidenced by choosing to earn 85% of their daily points for 25 Days Students on Level 3 are expected to maintain their positive behavioral level of performance with staff support. Positive behavior here is crucial to school success. Level warning and drop procedures as outlined in Level 2 can be implemented if needed. If the need arises, students will be evaluated on an individual basis for serious discipline infractions and will be subject to a review of placement by the Superintendent’s Office. Must have a well-developed power plan in order to prepare for a student led exit conference. Student may select Group Choices during free time. Students may have additional responsibilities, rewards, and more freedom of movement within The Opportunity School. Students may choose to be part of the Student Advisory Council to develop and voice ideas for rewards and improvements. Students may participate in Friday celebration. Opportunity School Level System 2013-2014 Level 4: Empowered Level (93% for 40 Days) Students are leaders and help others demonstrate Respect, Re-vitalized, Re-Engaged, and Empowered . Students demonstrate positive change as evidenced by choosing to earn 93% of their daily points for 40 Days Must have a completed power plan in order to lead their exit conference. At this time the student may petition to return to their home school. Students are expected to maintain their positive behavioral level of performance and demonstrate a high quality of behavioral expectations and act as a role model for other students. If the need arises, students will be evaluated on an individual basis for serious discipline infractions and will be subject to a review of placement by the Superintendent’s Office. A Student led exit conference will be held for a full review of the student’s academic and behavioral performance while at The Opportunity School. Student may participate in special dress days (Jeans, Hats, Shoes, Etc.). Student has input and choices in education and activities. Student has opportunities for off campus field trips.
