Debbie Slack called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. There was a quorum present.
Ms. Slack welcomed everyone to the meeting. She noted handouts for the Budget and the Agenda were available at the front, copies of which are attached hereto. Abigail Jackson, Student Council President, made opening remarks. Christine
Gregory, Student Council Co-Vice President, gave the invocation. Tucker May, Student Council Co-Vice President, led the audience in the Pledges of Allegiance.
Amy Watkins next stated that the March 25, 2015 PTSA General meeting minutes were posted on the PTSA webpage on the SHS website. There being no corrections, after motion made by Anna Farris, which was seconded, the minutes were approved.
Jennifer Bradshaw, Treasurer, next referred to the previously approved Budget, noting the income and expenses . She next reported proposed increases to the budget related to Philanthropic Support, Teacher Appreciation, Faculty
Scholarships and Student Scholarships line items. An additional $2,000 is requested to fund two more scholarships for our sister school, Northbrook, a $325 adjustment to Teacher Appreciation to fund an upcoming event and $1,000 each to fund an additional scholarship for a teacher and deserving student. After motion made by Alison White, which was seconded, the amendments were approved and the Budget was filed of record.
Alison White, 1st Vice President Scholarship, next announced the three teachers who received $1,000 scholarships: Jason
Karam; Kim Lynch; and Janice Cummings. They will be presented with the scholarships at the upcoming Teacher
Appreciation event.
Sharon Fox, 2nd Vice President Membership, next presented the Stratford PTSA Life Memberships. Michael Fahey, Fine
Arts teacher, Davy Barrett, biology teacher and ASE sponsor, Julie Haralson, parent and Abigail Jackson, senior and
Student Council President, all received the honor along with Bundt cakes and the recognition and gratitude of the
Stratford PTSA.
Ms. Slack next acknowledged the 2013-14 PTSA officers and officially presented and installed the 2015-16 slate of officers who were approved at the last meeting: Kim Selzman, President; Alison White, 1st Vice President Scholarship;
Anna Farris, 2nd Vice President Membership; Elizabeth Levering , 3rd Vice President Directory (not present); Myra
Lewis, Secretary; and Jennifer Bradshaw, Treasurer. Those present stood to be recognized. After motion made by Jo
Grooms, which was seconded, the slate of officers was approved.
There being no unfinished or new business, Ms. Slack adjourned the meeting at 7:17 p.m. Principal Gex began the awards ceremony for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students.
