Seniors: Sign up in the counselor center for an Oklahoma PTA scholarship. This is a state-wide scholarship. There will be a SHS PTSA scholarship opportunity in March. These are 2 different scholarships. For an application, see Mrs. Shubert. The deadline for the OK PTA scholarship is April 1 st . More details to come on the SHS scholarship.

ATTENTION SENIORS!!! It is time for the PTSA Southmoore Senior
Scholarships. We are very excited to say we have raised enough money to offer at least six (6) $500.00 scholarships this year. The only requirements to be eligible for these scholarships are to be a member of PTSA, attending college or tech school in the fall of 2011 and to personally sign-up in the counselor’s office the week of March 28-31.
This will be each seniors last opportunity to purchase their PTSA
MEMBERSHIP CARD for $4.00 that will allow them to sign-up for the
$500.00 scholarships.
So Seniors, sign-up today in your English class and PTSA could help you with college....

The Southmoore Writing Club is currently planning a community service project that includes creating an original children’s book with illustrations. If you are an artist or creative writer and want to collaborate with the SHS
Writing Club, please come to our weekly meetings every Tuesday after school in Mr. Wilmarth’s room, S216.

VOULENTEERS NEEDED!!!The End- of –Instruction exams are quickly approaching and the Counseling Department needs help. If you or someone you know is 18 years or older and willing to be a test monitor during the weeks of April 18 th , 25 th , May 2 nd and May 9 th please contact
Amanda Sykes at 735-4918. We must have monitors to conduct the exams; any help is appreciated.

It’s election time at Southmoore! The next two weeks will be the election period for Student Council officers and Class officers for the 2011-2012 school year. If you are interested in running for a Student Council office, you must attend one of two informational meetings—either Tuesday morning at 7:45 or Wednesday afternoon at 3:15 both in Mrs. Lehew’s room. If you are interested in running for a Class office, you must attend one of two informational meetings—either Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 or
Wednesday morning at 7:45 in Mrs. Smalley’s room, s106. Consider being a part of the planning process for Southmoore!

Any girls would like to attend prom but cannot afford a dress should see her counselor or Ms. Porter for information about free dresses.

Qualified members of the Speech and Debate Team participated in regionals during spring break with the following events qualifying for State competition: Jaide Messer placed 3rd in Dramatic Interpretation ; Jessica
Owens and Jesika Johnson placed 3rd in Humorous Duet ; Jaide Messer and Elizabeth Larios placed 3rd in Dramatic Duet ; Megan Rich and Maddie
Ferguson placed 4th in Dramatic Duet ; Edith Ritt in Original Oratory ;
Kourtney Johnson in Original Oratory ; Eugena Hwang in Debate . Also,
Keegan Walker and Justice Wickstrom 1st alternate in Dramatic Duet and

Jaide Messer 1st alternate in Original Oratory.Way to go guys! Sushi!
