Role Purpose Bennett Bank Landfill is to be maintained and operated in accordance with the Permit, Planning Permission, all FCC Group policies & procedures, whilst maximising site productivity. Page: 1 of 3 Key Responsibilities Operate various mobile plant to the required standard and perform tasks to control waste inputs on the landfill site. Assist the Site Foreman with maintenance of all plant and equipment as required. Identify, organise and prioritise workload and ensure all work is completed to FCC standard. Demonstrate good communication skills towards FCC staff, external contractors/drivers and any Regulatory bodies (e.g. on site visits). Assist the Site Foreman in delivering, controlling and co-ordinating the safe and efficient operation of the site. To be aware of, and conversant with the relevant details of the Environmental Permit, Management System, Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures COSHH Assessments, Emergency Procedures and other relevant health, safety & environmental documents as directed by the Site Business Manager and/or Site Foreman. Provision of holiday and sickness cover for other staff as required. Ensure all accidents, near-misses or dangerous situations are recorded and reported to your Line Manager. Generation of clear and factual information relating to all necessary paperwork on behalf of FCC. To ensure that all site users are wearing issued uniforms and the correct PPE at all times. To carry-out plant pre-start checks and defect reporting on mobile plant in your charge. To ensure preventative maintenance, servicing and statutory inspections are carried out in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines and associated training. Page: 2 of 3 Formally record and report any breach of rules, act of dishonesty, malpractice or corruption by any member of staff to the Area Supervisor or Regional Business Manager. Liaise with and carry out any reasonable and safe duties assigned to you by your Line Manager or Site Foreman. Qualifications and Experience Mobile plant licences, especially Compactor, loading shovel, excavator, tractor and dump truck. Experience in operating mobile plant. Previous experience working on landfill site or similar environment is preferable. Personal Qualities Good verbal communication skills. Places Health and Safety at the centre of everything the site does. Practically minded with can do attitude. Ability to deal with people. Respectful, honest, firm but fair. Flexible approach to duties, willing to ‘muck in’ if necessary to complete a task. Able to work as part of a team or alone. Able to use initiative and make suggestions for process improvements.
