Minutes of the STUDENT ASSOCIATION SENATE OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY 7 April 2013 CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The meeting was called to order by James Zanayed at 6:06 p.m. in the Heritage Room in the Holmes Student Center. Senate Clerk Chad Harris conducted a roll call of Senators. Preasent in the Audience was members of the executive cabinet, plus Senators At Large to be and Vice President Dr. Bill Nicklas, Associate Vice President Dr. John R. Jones. with a quorum present, the meeting proceeded. Speaker Zanayed asked Senator Frank to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance. . MEETING AND AGENDA APPROVAL Speaker Zanayed motions to approve last meetings minutes. Speaker Zanayed motions to move agenda items B, C, and D from new business to old business and to pass the items as consent agenda. Motion passes. SPEAKER’S REPORT May 5th is the last meeting. (4) Left Continuing to work on the amnesty policy. Speaker Zanayed challenged the faculty as the Senate meeting to explore the Rec. during peak hours. Have Town Hall meetings soon to figure out new issues. Facebook Senate Group is up and running now. Public affairs is working on the advertisement of the group. Congratulating the new Executive Cabinet that just got elected. New Mayor in Dekalb this Tuesday. New President of NIU Dr. Donald Baker. COMMITTEE REPORT(S) Director Pooler James and Chloe working on a (Senate Cares Day) on a (Saturday). Chairwoman Frank Like the Facebook Group Deputy Speaker Theodore Thanking Senators for making a showing at the Presidential announcement ceremony. Stick around in the SA, it will be an interesting semester next year. Ad-Hoc Chairman Domke Working with Athletics Department to get Tailgating to Baseball Games. EXECUTIVE BRANCH REPORT(S) Treasurer Venaas First subcommittee next week. Go meet with Josh if you have questions about the budget. Director of Organizational Development Gypty Thomas Working to get last minute Organizations recognized. Congratulations to Senators that got Student Choice Award. On Campus Job Fair was a great success. Greek Week went well, all the organizations left with positive messages. Director of Academics Susie Richards Implementation of the Plus/Minus System. Endorses the 2.5 GPA Constitutional Amendment.
