I want to welcome everyone here this morning... If you are a guest we are so thankful
that you have joined us for our worship experience.
After the 2nd service we are having our Kidsfest... We would like to invite you to be a
part of that...
This morning we are continuing our series Revolution!
Last week we defined three words that are pertinent to this series.
Radical-- fundamental, extreme, cutting to the root of an issue.
Revolutionary-- one who constitutes and brings about rapid change
Revolution-- a sudden, radical, and complete change; the over-throw of one ruler or
government and substitution of another by the governed.
Jesus brought Revolution... This Spiritual Kingdom would bring change in the hearts of
men...
This morning’s message is Revolution of the Heart!
I read a story online that I would like to share with you...
Last year there was a man in Amsterdam felt that he needed to confess, so went to his priest:
"Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. During WW2 I hid a refugee in my attic." "Well,"
answered the priest, "that's not a sin." "The man replied... Father I made him agree to pay
me 20 Gulden for every week that he stayed." The priest paused... "I admit that wasn't good,
but you did it for a good cause." The man joyously said; "Oh, thank you, Father; that eases my
mind. Now I have one more question..." The priest said... "What is that, my son?" "Do I have
to tell him the war is over?"

This man is like many people who may feel a since of guilt... and they want forgiveness
but are reluctant to change.
However, when Jesus comes into your life there is a Revolution that leads to change...
How it occurs is somewhat a mystery... Just like certain things in nature:
How does an insect that crawls, change into something that flies?
How does that ugly black fuzzy creature change into something that is fascinating and
full of color?
How does a caterpillar become a butterfly?
The word we use is metamorphosis... It is a word that describes what happens when a
caterpillar begins to spin a cocoon and some days later emerges as a butterfly.
That is a sudden radical change... A metamorphosis is “Revolution”.

When Jesus brings revolution to our hearts there is something that occurs even more
miraculous:
When this revolution occurs... a person who is indifferent and hostile toward God and
they can become a deeply committed follower of Christ.
When this revolution occurs... a person who is a slave to destructive sinful habits
changes into a person who is free and one of self-control...
When this revolution occurs... a person who is angry changes into a person that is
loving, gentle, and compassionate...
When this revolution occurs a person who is full of fear and doubt changes into a
person that has peace and faith...
When this revolution occurs a person who is self-centered, and selfish changes into a
person who is generous and giving...
How does it a occur? Through metamorphosis... or Revolution that occurs in the Heart!
Karl Marx who was the father and author of communism... said that religion was the
“opiate of the masses”.
There was a reason that he came to that opinion... Karl Marx was born a Jew... His
father, Heinrich Marx... was a lawyer.
Heinrich Marx decided that being a Jew in Russia wasn’t as socially accepted as being
protestant. So Heinrich converted to the protestant faith. He became a Lutheran...
There was an external work by Heinrich Marx (converting) but not an internal work or
metamorphosis.
Karl Marx saw right through him... He saw his father as weak... using religion as drug to
ease his comfort on earth. But..
Religion will not change you... No external action brings real change...
When God’s Kingdom comes into our lives there is:
Revolution of the heart
1. Revolution makes our hearts new.
 Something brand new happens inside! In the Old Testament... Ezekiel spoke this word
from God:
Ezek. 36:26-27 (NLT) “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will
take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And I will put
my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.”


He said I will give you a new heart and will put a new spirit in you
He did not say... I going to come into your life and make some improvements... He
didn’t say I am going to help you modify your behavior...

Too many come to Jesus and to church with the hope of making improvements in their
lives... That is why so many who profess Christ never really have change...
 77% of Americans call themselves Christian... (Why) Only 7% say that there has been a
real change in their lives...
 God is not about making improvement... He is about bringing Revolution... He brings
change... A change of heart and spirit!
 A heart that changes and becomes responsive to God... A heart that has changed and
desires to follow God and obey Him...
 That is a revolution of heart!
2. Revolution makes us new people.
2Cor. 5:17 (NLT) “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.
The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Cor. 5:17 (TLB) “When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person
inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun.”


I like this because it is as if Paul is asking us some questions:
So you say you are a Christian... Have you become a brand new person inside? Has
your Heart fundamentally changed? Has your life really changed? Are you pursuing the
new life you have been given?
How do I know if I am improved on or new? (Am I improved are new?)
1. If we are changing from the outside in we are just making improvements... (External
changes do not last... The external changes always fail...)...But... If I am changing from
the inside out I have been made new. (Because any real change begins inside)
2. If we trying to do something different we are just making improvements but if we are
someone different we have been made new.
 God doesn’t want our resolution to change... He wants to bring revolution that’s brings
change... (Ex. New Years)
 When the change takes place... We have a new heart, new desire, a new disposition,
and a new purpose to fulfill.
Jer. 31:33 (NLT) ...“I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their
hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”


My people...New people... I will bring Revolution!
Paul referenced this scripture in Hebrews:
Heb. 10:16-18 (NIV) “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." 17 Then he adds:
"Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." 18 And where these have been
forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.”


Paul is reminding us that God’s covenant with us through Christ is one of change...
His law is in our hearts because He is in our hearts... He assures us of total forgiveness...
that what we were is never held against us...
 And what we have been forgiven for is forgiven... because Christ was the sacrifice.
 You are new people...
 Then Paul gives four traits found in New People... People that have experienced
Revolution or Change...
1. They desire to draw near to God.
 This desire should be the longing of every believer...
 To know Him... To know His person, His character, and His presence.
 To draw near have fellowship... pray... seek His face... and hear Him...
 When Revolution takes place in us we now can approach God’s presence with
confidence ...
Heb. 10:19-22 (NIV) Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy
Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain,
that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw
near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to
cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Therefore brothers... since you are new people... Have confidence in entering God’s
presence...
James 4:8 (NIV) “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”
 So draw near!
 John 4:23(NIV) “Worship in Spirit and truth”
2. New People hold on to the promises of God.
Heb. 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.




As we have learned in our cGroups that our faith is not circumstantial...
Life will throw us curve balls...
Our faith is not like the stock market... going up or down based circumstances...
When our faith is properly placed... It is unswerving...




3.
Because Jesus is eternal... Our faith is in Christ... and Christ alone.
He is the living word... The logos word... That Word is in our hearts...
Because Christ is there... He makes the promise alive in us...
It is important to feed daily!
New people live to impact others.
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.


Impact others by encouraging... Impact others by loving... and impact other by serving...
Consider others more important!
Phil 2:4 (NLT) “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”
4. New people connect with other New People.
25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us
encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.



Corporate and Small groups...
New People... need to be with other New People
You need each other... You need each other for encouragement... especially as the end
draws near!
Bottom Line: New hearts make New People... That’s Revolution!
