Dear friend,
I am writing to invite you to support Portland’s Set Sail for a Cause, benefiting the Oregon & SW Washington Chapter of
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The event is being hosted by the Oregon Women’s Sailing Association (OWSA)
who has a personal connection to the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: Cure leukemia, lymphoma,
Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Set Sail for a Cause is a thrilling weekend of sailing events that combines the joy of boating with the important task of
raising money to cure cancer. Since its inception, Set Sail for a Cause has raised thousands of dollars for lifesaving
research and patient services, bringing help and hope to patients and their families with cancer. The purpose of this event
is to raise much needed funds to support patient aid and blood cancer research.
This year’s Set Sail for a Cause will have a pirate theme partnering with the Tall Ship Royaliste and the Red Lion Inn
Jantzen Beach. The weekend will kick off on Saturday September 20th, 2014 with a Pirate Market Fair along the river
side of the Red Lion and Regatta on the Columbia River. Immediately following the events of the day will be the
Gosling Rum after party at the Red Lion Inn Jantzen Beach. The after party will feature music and dinner while we
celebrate the winners from all the day’s events. On Sunday, September 21st, 2014 we will be hosting a Family Fun Sail
and on the water scavenger hunt and final day for the Pirate Market Fair. All events are open for sailors and non-sailors
of all ages to participate in.
I am currently in the process of procuring support for this amazing weekend and would like to see if your company would
like to participate by sponsoring our event, purchasing an ad in our program or donating an item for our drawing. All
donors will receive recognition in our weekend program as well as have an opportunity to provide samplings for our
skipper bags.
