COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is an introduction to the theory and practice of management of the organization. The various
schools of management theory are discussed. Special attention is devoted to the process of
planning, decision making, organizing, leading and controlling the organization.
COURSE PREREQUISITE(S):
None
RATIONALE:
A global economy, emphasis on quality, increased diversity in the workforce, proliferation of
technology and e-commerce, and demands for more ethical conduct are just some of the
challenges facing organizations. A solid grounding in management is essential to successfully
guide today’s organizations through these challenges in the 21st century.

workplace diversity, the global economy, international management, advances in
technology, and social and ethical responsibility.
2. Analyze the planning process and how it relates to decision-making, strategic
management, and entrepreneurship management.
3. Describe the nature of organizing and its importance to organizations, including the role of
managing human resources.
4. Explain the leadership function and related motivational influences, organizational
communication, and managing groups and teams.
5. Evaluate the use of effective control systems.

Upon completion of this course, the student will have acquired basic cognitive
knowledge of management theory, principles and practices with particular emphasis on
business organization. The competence of the student will be evaluated by the

projects based on the performance objectives.
