Continuing Education State Board of Landscape Architecture Update Check our website for this important update on Continuing Education requirements by the State Board of Landscape Architecture. The Board hopes to notify registered landscape architects by electronic newsletter in the future, but you can be informed today through our website. Although the 2013 relicensure requirement has been dropped back to 10 CEUs, keep in mind that you will be able to carryover up to 12 extra CEUs for the licensing period ending in 2015. In this Edition, Susan Weiler of Olin was named as one of “52 bold minds”, “the brains behind the brightest ideas in Philly right now”. Sue is labeled as the Landscape Visionary, “a major player in the transformation of the connective tissue along the Ben Franklin Parkway”. The article states that her goal is to turn the Philadelphia Parkway into “the biggest urban arboretum in the country”. Her works include renovating Logan Circle, the Rodin Museum, the PMA Sculpture Garden and the Sol LeWitt Garden. She is currently working on revitalization of the Italian Fountain, and the Dilworth Plaza. Congratulations to Susan Weiler on being chosen for this impressive recognition. Call for A.E. Bye/Landscape Architecture Archives Research Fellow The Department of Landscape Architecture at Penn State is announcing a call for the A.E. Bye / Landscape Architecture Archives Research Fellow for the calendar year 2013. The Fellowship provides a $2,500 stipend for a minimum of one week of archival research in the Eberly Family Special Collections Library at Penn State's University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. The records (drawings, papers, photographs, and videos) of the celebrated twentieth-century American landscape architect A. E. Bye ( as well as those of landscape architects John Bracken and Stuart Mertz) are held at Penn State. Applications are due on or before January 31, 2013. Applicants will be notified of the selected Fellow on or before February 15, 2013. Selection will be made by a committee of the department head and appointed faculty. The theme for the Philadelphia conference is "Greenbuild Nation," drawing on Philadelphia's roots as the birthplace of the nation. To build upon the Delaware Valley’s long and storied history of innovation, USGBC and DVGBC seek to leave the City with a lasting gift of service as a thanks to people of the City of Philadelphia.
