Infectious Diseases Pamphlet Project
Throughout this unit you will be examining diseases caused by viruses, bacteria,
protists, and fungi. In order to gain more insight about these disease, you will be required
to create and informative medical pamphlet about your chosen disease. The pamphlet
must consist of 6 panels (criteria for each panel is listed below) on a standard sheet of
paper, and must be typed. The pamphlet is due in two weeks and is worth 96 points. The
following criteria must be fulfilled :
1. Choose an infectious disease (see back side).
2. Create the following panels :
Panel #1 : Title Of Pamphlet (8 Points)
- Include your title, name, date, and picture
Panel #2 : Symptoms (12 Points)
- 10 facts about symptoms (or associated symptoms) of the disease
- Include a picture
Panel #3 : Transmission / Prevalence (12 Points)
- 10 facts about the transmission and/or prevalence about the disease
- Identify which entity (virus or organism) causes the disease
- Include a picture
Panel #4 : Treatment / Diagnosis (12 Points)
- 10 facts about how the disease is diagnosed and/or treated
- Include a picture
Panel #5 : Extra Facts (12 Points)
- 10 specific, intriguing facts about the disease
- Include a picture
Panel #6 : Help Section (20 Points)
- 5 organizations that deal with treating the disease
- Include Name, Address, Phone Number, and Web Address
Appearance (20 Points)
: Do not use paragraphs, (Use dot-jots – except for facts)
: Fill up the page (avoid “dead space”)
: Put a heading on each panel (Symptoms, Help Section, etc.)
: Try to make this look professional (from a doctor’s office)
