E-assessment task Language: Japanese Stage: 5 Indicative time: 1.5 - 2 hours Topic: Shopping Task: Construct a dialogue of approximately 1-2 minutes between a shopkeeper and a customer. There are two parts to this task; Part A is a written draft of the dialogue and Part B is the recording of the dialogue. Context: Students have been working on a unit about shopping. The student will need to ‘play’ the part of both the shopkeeper and the customer by changing the ‘pitch’ of his/her voice using the program Audacity. The dialogue must be approximately 1-2 minutes long and include the following: - standard opening salutations/greetings - a request by the customer for a specific item/s - extension work: add a complication (e.g. the shopkeeper does not have the item requested by the customer) and a resolution (e.g. shopkeeper offers alternate item/size/colour, etc.). - a financial transaction (i.e. the customer pays for the item) - standard closing remarks For Part A the student will first need to write/type a draft of their dialogue and submit it to the teacher for feedback. For Part B the student will need to record his/her corrected dialogue and submit it to the teacher for feedback. Resources Marks Microsoft Word (Part A) Part A (written draft) – 10 marks Part B (recorded dialogue) – 10 marks Audacity (Part B) Feedback Task A - feedback can be given electronically using Microsoft Word with tracked changes, highlighting or inserting comments using bubbles. The feedback will focus on correcting errors. Task B – feedback can be given via Audacity in the form of a recording. The Follow up task Students need to consider and incorporate teacher feedback after Part A in order to complete Part B. Students will need to listen to teacher feedback after Part B. Feedback is designed to be easily accessible and useful to students. teacher will comment on the student’s recorded dialogue. Feedback will relate to both fluency (pronunciation, intonation, etc.) and language (use of vocabulary and expressions).
