Welcome to the University of Idaho’s Dual Credit Program Orientation and Certification Workshop. The
information in this workshop will provide new high school dual credit instructors with discipline-specific
training and orientation regarding, but not limited to, course curriculum, assessment criteria, pedagogy,
course philosophy and administrative responsibilities. When combined with ongoing professional
development and collaboration, the training and orientation will ensure that courses being taught on
the high school campus are equivalent to courses being taught on the university campus.
What is Dual Credit?
Dual Credit is a program that gives eligible high school students the opportunity to enroll in college
classes for credit prior to high school graduation. College credits earned through dual credit become a
part of the student’s permanent college record. They can be applied toward high school and college
graduation, and they can be transferred to other colleges or universities.
What are Idaho State Board of Education’s (SBOE) policies that govern Dual Credit?
In developing dual credit policies and procedures, SBOE adopted NACEP standards as the model for Dual
Credit/Concurrent Enrollment Programs in the State of Idaho. These Governing Policies and Procedures
for Advanced Opportunities (i.e., Section III. Subsection Y) are available on the SBOE website.
Who is NACEP?
NACEP stands for the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships and is a professional
organization that serves as the sole accrediting body for concurrent enrollment partnerships. Their
mission is to foster student success and achievement by supporting standards of excellence that
promote program and professional development, accreditation, research and advocacy. The standards,
