Deborah is a national workshop leader for the John F. Kennedy Center and the Associate
Director of Programming for Chautauqua Institution. She was the Arts Education & Community
Engagement Specialist/Associate Prof. of Percussion at the University of Trinidad and Tobago
2010-2013. Deborah serves as an arts education consultant, having led workshops for organizations such as the Boston and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras, Kennedy Center,
Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, and the United
States Marine Band. She holds a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance and an individual major (Performance and Education in Arts) from the Oberlin Conservatory and a master’s of education curriculum from the University of Cincinnati. Deborah has worked extensively with arts & disabilities and recently became a U. S. Department of State Speaker, representing the
U.S.A in Trinidad as a soloist and Arts & Disabiliteis Conference presenter May, 2014.

Poetic Percussion: A recital integrating spoken word and music
This solo percussion recital performed by Deborah Sunya Moore is available for booking beginning January 2015 and can be offered in performing arts centers or schools as an individual booking or as a partner offering with Deborah’s teacher or student workshops, Poetry & Music. The recital features Temple in the Sea, with poem by Sandra Alcosser and music by Adam Walters.
