Aluminium
e.g soft
drink
cans.
Engine
oil.
Food scraps
and garden
rubbish.
There is a company
which collects used
cans from schools.
It pays about 1 ₵
for each can.
Dirty oil is
collected from car
workshops and
taken to Kuala
Belait.
You can make a
garden compost bin.
Cut the bottom out
of a dustbin and
make holes in the
side. Put the rubbish
in the bin.
The cans are
crushed and then
sent to Malaysia.
The aluminium is
melted and used to
make more cans.
The oil is cleaned
and used again for
heating.
The rubbish changes
into compost. If you
mix this with soil, it
helps plants to grow
better.
