The Community Mental Health Worker (“CMHW”), Child & Adolescent promotes the mental health of children/adolescents and their families through the provision of direct clinical services, consultation services and professional and public education. This position functions in accordance with the InterlakeEastern Regional Health Authority’s (“IERHA”) mission, vision, values, policies and procedures and any applicable legislation. Qualifications: B.Sc.M.H, RPN, BN, RN, BSW, B.H.Ec. (Family Studies) or BMR with active applicable registration/license and three (3) years directly related experience in a clinical setting required. ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) required. Preference given to candidates who have completed the prescribed in-service training program. Knowledge of mental health issues, including signs, symptoms, treatment and prognosis of mental illness and emotional distress. Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, i.e. addictions and mental health, developmental delay and mental health, and the related impact on family dynamics. Knowledge of community resources and procedures related to accessing the available services. Knowledge of Psychiatric Disorders/Clinical Syndromes. Knowledge of Pharmacology. Knowledge of Recovery Model/Empowerment theory. Knowledge of Mental Health Act and Child Protection issues Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A positive attitude toward learning, growth and health. Ability to related and interact with clients of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position required. Valid driver’s license and vehicle are required.
