Hello Campus Partners: The Office of Orientation & Leadership Development is excited to offer campus departments the opportunity to apply for Welcome Week Innovation Grants to aid in the development of programs. Welcome Week events should provide a glimpse into facets of life on campus, including academic, social, athletic, cultural, artistic, and wellness events. Events must take place between August 22 and August 31, 2013. Welcome Week Innovation Grant applications will be accepted through Monday, April 15, 2013, at 4:00pm, via email to orientation@utah.edu. Departments are responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the event, including reserving space on campus. The Office of Orientation & Leadership Development will include all grant recipient programs in the broad marketing for Welcome Week and will not fund individual program marketing efforts. Events cannot serve as a fundraiser for the department, nor can admission be charged to attend the event. After the event takes place, departments must submit proof of expenditures to be reimbursed up to the amount of their grant award. All receipts and proof of payment must be documented in the Office of Orientation & Leadership Development by September 13, 2013. It is also necessary that grant applicants attend the information meeting to learn about the vision and marketing for the program, the Innovation Grant process, and existing events planned for Welcome Week 2013. This meeting will be one hour in length and take place at 2:00pm on Friday, March 29, in the Union Theatre. A representative from your department must attend this meeting to be eligible for Innovation Grant funding.
