Hello, Student Organization Members and Advisors:

The Office of Orientation & Leadership Development is excited to offer student organizations the opportunity to apply for Welcome Week Innovation Grants to aid in the development of programs. Welcome Week events should provide a glimpse into facets of life on campus, including academic, social, athletic, cultural, artistic, and wellness events. Events must take place between August 22 and August 31, 2013.

Welcome Week Innovation Grant applications will be accepted through Monday, April 15,

2013, at 4:00pm , via email to orientation@utah.edu

. Organizations are responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the event, including reserving space on campus. The Office of

Orientation & Leadership Development will include all grant recipient programs in the broad marketing for Welcome Week and will not fund individual program marketing efforts. Events cannot serve as a fundraiser for the organization, nor can admission be charged to attend the event. After the event takes place, organizations must submit proof of expenditures to be reimbursed up to the amount of their grant award. All receipts and proof of payment must be documented in the ASUU Office by September 13, 2013.

It is also necessary that grant applicants attend one of two information meetings to learn about the vision and marketing for the program, the Innovation Grant process, and existing events planned for Welcome Week 2013. A representative from your organization must attend this meeting to be eligible for Innovation Grant funding . The following timeline includes the dates and times of the workshops, as well as other important dates:

Thursday, March 28 – Workshop 1 (1:00-2:00pm, Union Room 312)

Friday, March 29 – Workshop 2 (12:30-1:30pm, Union Theatre)

Monday, April 15, 2013 – Application Deadline (4:00pm)

Wednesday, April 24, 2013 – Notification of Grant Funding

We look forward to working with you and the innovative ideas designed to showcase all that the

University of Utah has to offer. If you are unable to attend any of the workshops, please explore our website, www.welcomeweek.utah.edu/innovationgrants.php

. If you have additional questions, please contact our office: 801-581-7069 or orientation@utah.edu

.

Sincerely,

Kathryn Kay
