How Stout’s Career Service Office helps along the
journey
It’s October and your students have been at school for a full
month. By now they are getting into a routine, enjoying their
new friendships and starting to love life as a college student.
Some may be thinking about changing their majors and
some may be thinking about their future. October, at Stout,
is synonymous with two things; homecoming and the annual
Career Conference.
As first year college students, your children may not be
thinking about their future careers just yet. However, they
should because, before they know it they will be graduated
from college and starting their first jobs. The Career Services
Office will soon become your student’s best friend as they
learn to write resumes and cover letters for the first time. They
will also find Career Services helpful as they begin searching
for the perfect internship or Co-Op and when they finally start
searching for that coveted first job. Stout is well known for
its hands-on approach and our excellent placement, 98%
last year! We are also proud to boast that we have one of the
largest career fairs in the Nation.
This year’s Career Conference will be held October, 4th-6th.
Many employers are expected to attend, including….
3MAshley Furniture
EcolabHormel
General Mills
Land O Lakes
Menards
Lands’ End

There are also specialized employer panels held each day.
Tues. Oct. 4
“Interviewing: Seal the deal!”
Wed. Oct. 5
“True Experience: Students share stories & benefits of their
Co-op experience”
Thurs. Oct. 6
“Have a question about the job search? Ask the experts!”
Please remind your student to attend. The conference is held
in the multi-purpose room of the Sports and Fitness Center.
