LANSDOWN PARK PUPIL PREMIUM STATEMENT 2013-2014
The Department for Education introduced the pupil premium in April 2011. The pupil premium is
additional funding provided to enhance the education of the most socio-economically deprived
(namely those student entitled to free school meals and looked after children).
90% of Lansdown Park students were eligible in 2013-14 and the amount of pupil premium allocated
is £14960.
The pupil premium has been spent in an integrated way to ensure that entitled students receive the
opportunity for additional support, use of facilities and other learning opportunities to scaffold their
confidence. Our aim is to improve attainments and achievement for this group of students. This
funding has therefore been used to support a number of strategies and interventions to improve
outcomes for students for instance

Breakfast Club provision
Small group tuition in English and Maths
Numeracy and Literacy boosters sessions
Lunchtime support
Work with external agencies
Attendance support
Individual tuition for specific students
Courses with other providers to provide personal challenge
The impact of educational attainment arising from the expenditure of this funding is demonstrated
in improvements to attendance, progression and attainment so that there is little difference in
outcomes between those students who are eligible for Pupil Premium and those who are not. The
most significant factor is a 20% increase in attendance for those eligible for Pupil Premium leading to
participation and outcomes almost identical to those not eligible.

Progression 2013-2014
We measure students’ progress with the following ambition:
 Baseline to week 10 is one fine NC level
 Baseline to week 16 is 2 fine NC levels
 Baseline to week 22 is one whole level
 Baseline to week 28 is one whole and one fine NClevel
This is accelerated progression against the National Progression of 3 whole levels across Key Stage 3
and 4. The graphs below indicate the percentage of students who meet or exceed this national
standard from their starting points with us (our baseline)

Children in Care Pupil Premium
The Dfe introduced additional Pupil Premium funds for Children in Care of £1900 per child.
Lansdown had 2 students in 2013/14 who were in receipt of such funding.
In one case the funds were used to provide additional individual learning mentoring time to shore up
attainment to enable the child to gain Functional Skills Level 1 in both English and Maths and 13
other WJEC Pathways accreditations, making this student our highest attainer of the year.
In the other case the funds were used to enable the development of functional speaking and
listening skills in both social and learning context. This child is now in a special school setting
following statutory assessment.
