This includes reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The focus is to acquire a medium-high novice proficiency in using and understanding the language in all of the skill areas. Text: Realidades 1 Grading Policy: 60 % of the final grade is assessments. This includes tests, notebook tests, performance tasks and projects. 20% of the final grade is daily grades. These include class work, homework, and quizzes. 20% of the final grade is your final exam. Materials: You will need to maintain a notebook in a 3-ring binder. Bring your notebook to class everyday along with paper and pencil. You will need to take notes on a daily basis. Make-up work Policy: Students whose absences are excused shall be permitted to make-up work missed. It shall be the responsibility of the student to arrange with the teacher for making up missed work within three (3) days after returning to school. Students who are absent unexcused will not be permitted to make-up missed work. Late Assignment Policy: Students are expected to turn in all completed assignments in the time scheduled by the teacher. Any project or assignment turned in late will result in a ten-point reduction per day late in the grade for that assignment. Expectations of Student: 1. Be on time, prepared to learn and do your best. Pay attention in class. 2. Complete assignments on time. 3. Study for tests using your notebook and handouts from class. Keep notebook current. Lack of adequate preparation may lead to failure. 4. Make up test and assignments within 3 days of returning to class for excused absences. Your grade will be final after 3 days. 5. No food, drinks or gum in class. 6. Be on task and stay in your seat Expectations of Parents: 1. Make sure your child completes all assignments and studies for tests. 2. Make sure your child misses class only when absolutely necessary. What is missed in class cannot be replaced with any amount of make-up work. 3. Make sure your child makes up tests and assignments when he/she is absent within 3 days of returning to class. You can check Power School for missing grades. 4.
