Position Description Date 2/27/2015 Position Title Risk Manager Reports To General Counsel Company Overview Liberty Tire Recycling is a dynamic, innovative company focused on economic and resource sustainability. As the premier tire recycling service in North America, Liberty Tire Recycling collects and processes more tires than any company in the industry. The company recycles tires in an environmentally friendly way, and produces quality end-products utilizing recycled tire rubber materials. Position Summary This position will be responsible for managing the Company’s property and casualty insurance programs across the US and Canada. Incumbent will formulate, implement, administer, and evaluate risk management strategies to efficiently and cost effectively manage such risk. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing relationships between the Company, its brokers, and insurance carriers and work with brokers to compile necessary data and information for the marketing and preparation of RFQs for insurance placements. This role will also work across all aspects and levels of the Company to identify and reduce risk to an acceptable level both in the U.S. and Canada. Key Duties & Responsibilities Direct and manage claims and support loss control activities. Obtain any information as necessary from Company personnel, vendors, and other outside sources to support effective claim management activity. Partner with the Company’s broker and insurance carrier to manage the workers’ compensation program to include effective claims management processes, reporting protocols, and return to work programs. Included in this responsibility is acting as the Company liaison for any State mandated workers’ compensation programs and the accurate and timely reporting of required information to such agencies. Process claims, provide claims support, and respond to informational requests. Manage relationships with third party service providers including brokers and insurance carriers. Prepare and/or coordinate the publication of various management reports, loss analyses, and budgets as required. Analyze and deliver claim information, performance metrics, and external benchmarking data to support function. Work closely with legal counsel on claim resolution. Develop and monitor compliance with insurance procedures. Team with environmental, health and safety, and other Company personnel to develop and manage loss prevention protocols. Develop, promote, and deliver Company trainings, as necessary, to support the Company’s risk management strategy. Maintain and provide risk management information and resources via the Company’s Intranet. Assist the operations and health and safety organizations to change employee behaviors as needed to effectuate a highly visible and robust workplace safety culture. Review insurance provisions of major contracts and provide expert input. Maintain insurance and claims related files. Manage company’s current and historic insurance information and institutional knowledge. Serve as part of the Company’s compliance team. Assist the senior leadership with crisis management. . Working knowledge of Federal and State workers’ compensation laws and processes. Well developed computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Strong problem solving skills with the ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines . Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong communication and influencing skills: written, oral and presentation. Ability to communicate across multiple audiences to build relationships with and influence individuals at all levels in the Company. Detail-oriented, self-motivator able to deliver high quality work. Strong desire for continuous learning Good team player who treats all people with respect and is not afraid to roll up his/her sleeves to help out their team members. With limited support staff, the successful candidate will complete all aspects of position. Honesty and high ethical standards Professional conduct and presentation. Willingness to travel up to 10-20%. Ability to work in office and field environment with frequent phone and PC use. Willingness to work on strategic, operational, and tactical tasks with equal fervor and sense of urgency. Education Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance, or risk management. Experience Minimum of ten years of experience in property and casualty insurance and claims management. Experience dealing with insurance brokers a plus.
