Communicate information and promote RIBA exhibitions and their full programme of events to increase visitors’ knowledge of RIBA and motivate participation Assist the Gallery Manager with the maintenance of equipment and displays to ensure the Architecture Gallery is open and ready on a daily basis Respond to First Aid incidents, artwork damage and emergency evacuation promptly and appropriately to comply with appropriate procedures and adhere to best practice in gallery invigilation. Capture data and undertake exhibition feedback surveys to inform the organisation’s understanding of impact and visitor experience. Implement and maintain RIBA’s disability and access policies and compile incident reports in accordance with sector standards Provide occasional cover for main reception and support the Public Programmes team with practical delivery of events Job Description Template Version: 4 February 2015 Useful information The Architecture Gallery, located within RIBA headquarters at 66 Portland Place opened its first exhibition The Brits Who Built the Modern World on the 17th February 2014, and has since had two major exhibitions including the current Mackintosh Architecture. The Gallery Assistants are responsible for providing a high quality visitor experience through proactive engagement with visitors and mindfulness for both their safety and the security of artworks. Gallery Assistants will work within the wider front of house team at 66 Portland Place that includes Reception and Security staff and will be expected to provide occasional cover for Reception staff and will be managed by the Gallery Manager, who they will also assist with in maintenance and cleaning of displays. Successful applicant s will be expected to work 25 hours per week including regular evening and weekend shifts (every other Tuesday evening and weekend). Skills, knowledge and experience Experience of working with the public Interest and knowledge of Architecture and ability to absorb share information Friendly and helpful disposition Previous experience of working in galleries/ museums Excellent communication and customer service skills Awareness of access, disability and health and safety issues Educated to minimum GCSE level including English & Maths.
