DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES For Reference Only CLASS CODE: 3215 PAY GRADE: 025 CLASS TITLE: ECONOMIC ANALYST ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is work developing projections of the effects of various economic programs, long-term and/or short-term projects, and of the changes in the associated economic indicators; or coordinating economic policy development and coordinating a team in the development of large economic research projects. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Analyzes and assesses the long-term and/or short-term effects of federal, state and interstate projects and regulatory activities. Develops projections of various economic indicators and conducts the necessary economic analyses to support various operational plans and long-term goals. Analyzes economic phenomena by application of statistics, econometric methods and computer simulation experiments to include econometric modeling, and coordinates the necessary data collection in support of forecasting methodologies. Coordinates the expansion of the data base to further support comprehensive economic planning activities and long-range or short-range economic analyses. Performs related work as required. Knowledge of basic statistics. Knowledge of data collection principles and methods. 3215-ECONOMIC ANALYST-CS Ability to develop projections of the impact of economic programs, projects and changes in economic indicators. Ability to collect, analyze and interpret economic data. Ability to prepare economic related charts, tables, slides and other graphic presentations of data. Ability to work independently. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to organize economic data into logical format. Ability to prepare technical reports. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to economics. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in economics, revenue administration, revenue estimating, budget formulation, budget administration or in economic development programs. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, statistics or geography can substitute for one year of the required experience.
