Research Associate (M&E) – Centre for Maternal Newborn
Health (CMNH)
Responsible to:
Head of Monitoring and Evaluation
Summary of role:
To work as part of the CMNH team based at LSTM to develop and deliver research,
teaching and technical assistance. As a Research Associate with a monitoring and
evaluation focus, you will be responsible for supporting the development, execution,
analysis and reporting of projects evaluating interventions in maternal and newborn
health in developing countries. This role would suit a person with a strong research
background and experience of evaluation of complex interventions, preferably in a
healthcare sector setting.
The post will be based in Liverpool, with occasional overseas travel.
Key Responsibilities:
 Support development of research studies across the Centre, including study
design, tool development, and preparation of protocols, standard operating
procedures (SOPs) and ethics review applications
 Oversee data collection and processing, including quality assurance, and
organising data in spreadsheets so as to facilitate analysis
 Develop analysis plans and assist with data analysis
 Prepare presentations and publications of research findings
 Conduct (systematic) literature reviews
 Act as line manager
 Work in a safe manner adhering to local and legal requirements
 Other duties reasonably consistent with the foregoing as required
