Are you a PTA Leader?
Then you need Leadership Conference!
You wouldn’t let an untrained person coach your child’s soccer team.
You wouldn’t let an untrained person teach your child to play piano.
How can your PTA function well without
trained leaders?
All board members should be encouraged to attend. Even if they are
veteran leaders, there are always changes to rules and new things to try
out.
New and improved classes for this year based on your
feedback from last year.
Cost: $20.00 per person for the 1st three people. Bring more
than three and the additional people are $15.00 each.
Breakfast and Lunch included!
Classes
 Basic President: A must for all new presidents! Learn the basics of running your PTA. Everything
you need to know to conduct a successful meeting.
 Veteran President: A roundtable discussion of things that come up that you may not have expected
and a review of the basics.
 Basic Treasurer: A must for all new treasurers! There’s more to being treasurer than writing a few
checks.
 Veteran Treasurer: A roundtable discussion of things that come up that you may not have
expected and a review of the basics.
 Finance for All: A must for all board members! Fiduciary responsibility is the job of the whole
board. How do you stay compliant with all the rules and regulations from the government?
 Reflections: Make sure you are able to hit the ground running with the PTA’s premiere art contest.
 Student Involvement: Is your school a PTSA? How do you get the students actually involved?
 Webpage Design: This will be a full morning class. You will need to bring a laptop in order to
participate. Session 1 will teach you the basics of starting a website. Session 2 will expand into
areas that you may want to add after you have some experience.
 Grant Writing (subject to change): How do I write a grant? What are some things that I should
highlight or ignore?
 Fundraising: Come share ideas. What works at your school, what was a major flop? Make sure you
are following the rules so that you don’t jeopardize your non-profit status.
 Programs: They most important part of PTA! The purpose of that fundraising is to provide your
school with programs that impact the students in positive ways.
 Auditor: What is a PTA audit? Why is it so important? What do I need to do one?
 Secretary/Historian: These two positions have jobs that sometimes overlap. Find out who is
responsible for what. Secretary is more than just keeping some notes! The historian tracks the
hours that keep you a non-profit!
 Membership: Your members are the life blood of the organization. How do you attract them?
What do you do with them once you have them?
 Legislation/Advocacy: PTA is founded on advocating for children. What are the current issues?
How can we be more involved? What are the rules for elections and campaigns?
 Parliamentarian: You are the voice of reason at the meeting. How do you use your unit’s bylaws to
keep the meetings running smoothly and efficiently? How do you conduct elections? Are my bylaws
up to date? How do I update them if they’re not?
 Health: What are some ways to provide healthy alternatives for students at school and at home? Is
there an easy and effective way to fundraise without candy or cheesecake? What health issues are
important to the PTA advocacy platform?
Help us to help others! We will be collecting school supplies at Leadership
Conference to donate to low income schools in the county. If you can participate
there will be donation cans at sign in. Your donation gets you an extra ticket for our
fabulous opportunity drawings!
