The contact for this internship, Catherine Ziegler, is a very recent Palmer grad! The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society is seeking interns for the Spring 2013 semester. This internship is in New York City. The primary duties of the intern will be working on various digitization programs, including imaging unique materials in our archival collections, editing and processing the images, organizing the digital files, creating structure maps, metadata creation, and uploading the processed files to the online library using CONTENTdm. Other duties will include performing reference services for our members, and researching and producing genealogical guides to resources specific to New York State. Applicants should be enrolled in a graduate program for Library Science and be available at least 6 hours during the week (we are closed Saturday and Sunday). Anyone with experience or interest in New York history or in genealogy is encouraged to apply. This is an unpaid internship and preference will be given to students seeking course credit.
