JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Electronics Engineer Job Type: Permanent Location: Woking, UK Salary: £30-35k Position: Full Time The Electronics Engineer will be reporting to the Electronics Discipline Manager. Designing PCBs and Schematics for data loggers, power management and communications devices for use within Pulse’s ASSURE range of integrity monitoring equipment. Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for: Developing Schematics and PCB designs using software tools such as Pulsonix for ongoing projects and development of Pulse’s products with electronics discipline manager. Developing system and component level test procedures and documenting the results. Work with project managers to develop and document system architectures for Pulse’s client specific applications, including specifying cables for power and communications paths. Working closely with the engineering team and project managers to integrate Pulse’s product line to client application. Working with the electronics discipline manager in order to assist with design reviews Evaluate technical specifications suitable of 3rd party equipment when used in system level designs, as well as component selection when conducting product designs. Work with technicians to iron out any production issues related to design and testing. Using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters power supplies to perform hardware de-bugging and performance characterisations. Work with the electronics discipline manager in conducting qualification of new designs. Work with the project manager to develop and conduct system integration testing Work with the firmware engineer to develop efficient designs. May get involved in basic firmware implementation. Analyse and characterise sensor design performance using simulation tools and test equipment. Assist project managers with project delivery (assembly, testing, installation) if project work load requires, including offshore installation if necessary Knowledge, Skills and Experience: We are looking for a candidate with: Good knowledge of electronics component theory and application. Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment preferred. Previous use of CAD software for PCB and schematic design is preferred. Basic use of lab tools such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters. Knowledge of firmware development using c is advantageous. Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent qualification (e.g. HND) or experience. Math GCSE or above is essential. Organizational: able to break down design into smaller manageable chunks and carry out design, implementation and testing to project timelines. Flexibility: able to adjust schedule on short notice if project demand dictates Analytical: debugging of hardware issues and overall troubleshooting of system sometimes necessary Practical: Needs to understand how the hardware interfaces with the general system and work with other disciplines to optimize/troubleshoot system.
