Analog Electronic Design Engineer This company designs, manufactures, sells and services analytical instrumentation for the global Surface Analysis Market; we create instruments that enable next generation technologies! PHI’s products are sold to leading research institute, academic, and industrial laboratories worldwide. Position Objective: We are seeking an Analog Electronic Design Engineer who will serve as the company’s technology leader in the design of custom, mixed signal, control and data acquisition electronics for integration in PHI’s products. The role will include hands-on design and prototyping (procure, build, test) of new electronics with very demanding analog design requirements. The position also partners with system engineering in integration testing, and provides consulting support to the manufacturing and service organizations. Primary Responsibilities: Design (analog), prototype (procure, build, test), document and support mixed signal electronic controls. Translate system level requirements into unit level engineering specifications. Provide development cost and time estimates. Lead small project teams and provide technical mentoring to less senior electronics designers and technicians (this is not a supervisory role). Partner with other engineering groups in system level design, integration testing and documentation. Provide technical consulting for regulatory compliance testing and documentation (CE, UL, RoHS, etc.). Maintain technical currency and insure PHI’s state-of-the-art design capability through self-study, continuing education and development of new technology. Position Requirements Critical Skills & Knowledge: Mixed signal electronics design, test & integration Embedded control system design and test Competency in modern electronic design CAD tools Best practice design for manufacturability Education/experience: Bachelor degree in electrical engineering; advanced degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience. More than five years of experience in design of chassis level, mixed signal control electronics for highly integrated hardware/software products with demanding technical performance requirements. Experience in the design of capital equipment for applications in scientific research or advanced manufacturing preferred. Other: Occasional travel to business partner and customer locations, including internationally (less than 10 days/year).
