JOB PROFILE and PERSON SPECIFICATION Job title: Front of House Officer Reports to: Front of House Manager Salary: Hourly rate £8.50 The Front of House Officer will be divided between the Watts Gallery Visitor Centre and the Lobby area at Watts Studios (Opening 26 January 2016). The role will entail overseeing all activities that occur in the Pottery Building which includes the Visitor Centre, Shop, Watts Contemporary Gallery, selling tickets and guide books whilst in the Lobby at Watts Studios. This will include: Greeting and providing our visitors with a warm welcome, managing Gallery admissions and event tickets, selling pieces from the Commercial exhibitions, helping to price and display the shop stock. Cards, prints and gifts etc. will be on sale in the Visitor Centre and it is the responsibility of the Front of House Officer to sell these items and work towards retail income targets. The job holder must have a good knowledge of the Watts Gallery fundraising schemes, including, Adopt a Watts, and the Friends/Patrons memberships, so they can encourage visitors to become members. Other responsibilities include cashing up the till, ensuring the Visitor Centre is clean, tidy and presentable. Ensure all items are priced and that the shop is kept replenished. The Front of House Officer will work closely with the volunteer on duty at the Visitor Centre in all of their duties. The Front of House Officer must be available to cover shifts that become vacant due to sickness or annual leave. Increase Patrons to 150 Deliver £45,000 per annum from Patrons scheme Manage Adopt a Watts Maintain files on all adopters Communicate any development with the adopted paintings Increase number of adopters and renew adopters Increase adopters to 150 Deliver £35,000 per annum from Adopt a Watts Manage the Friends membership scheme Increase Friends to 4,000 by 2016 Administration Produce reports for donors Research developments in the departments and produce good reports for donors Send thank you letters to donors Research donors and grant applications Undertake research of charitable trusts and look into pictures, and documents to support grant bids Manage and support fundraising events Plan, manage and execute all details of event including invitations, invitation list, catering, speeches, venue, purpose and briefings Evaluate events and communicate/implement learnings Internal relationships Liaise with Marketing, Learning and Curatorial to support the programme and secure their support for informing and cultivating donors Liaise with Trustees to secure their support for ‘asks’, making introductions and donor relationships Managing the Team Line manage Development Officer, Development Assistant and Friends Administrator; review staff structure and deliver a sustainable and efficient team to deliver fundraising targets year on year Skills and Experience: Excellent interpersonal skills are essential Computer literacy Retail experience and an interest in art is an advantage.
