Running on warm or hot setting a
dryer can use 4,400 watts of
power!
Consider using glass and ceramic
baking dishes, they retain heat
better and allow you to bake at
lower temperatures.
Consider using running your dryer
on cool setting
…or even better, line dry your
clothes.

A microwave uses 1,400 watts of
power.
A dishwasher running with hot
water uses 3,600 watts, cold
water requires 1,200 watts.
For short reheating purposes use
the microwave instead of the
oven.
Run the dishwasher only when full

Set your computer to go to sleep
after 5 minutes of inactivity.
A 50” plasma TV uses 340 watts!
Consider another type of
television and remember… the
larger the TV, the more energy it
uses.

Go with CFLs! These light bulbs
use a lot less energy
To test if your refrigerator is
sealing properly put a piece of
paper where the door seals. If the
paper slides down at all you need
to replace the seal.
And of course… don’t forget to
turn the lights off when you are
not using them.

watts of power.
New CFLs only use 18 watts of
energy.
Remember to unplug your cell
phone charger when it is not in
use, chances are it is still drawing
power.
But with any appliance, the longer
you keep it on, the more energy it
uses.
Replacing all of the incandescent
lights in your house with CFL’s can
save you a lot of money on energy
costs!
