Vocabulary Oct 13- Oct 23 1. Revolve- To keep turning in a circle or orbit around a central point or object. 2. Insolation- Incoming solar radiation; the amount of the sun's energy that reaches the Earth. 3. Axis- An imaginary line through the middle of an object, around which that object spins, as in Earth’s axis. 4. Orbit- The invisible path followed by an object circling a planet, the sun, etc. 5. Precipitation-The falling of water from the sky in the form of rain, sleet, hail, or snow. 6. Weather- The condition of the outside air or atmosphere at a particular time and place. Weather can be described as hot or cold, wet or dry, calm or windy, clear or cloudy. 7. Transpiration- is the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere. Transpiration is essentially evaporation of water from plant leaves 8. Evaporation- becoming a vapor 9. Runoff- something that drains or flows off, as rain that flows off from the land in streams. 10. Wind speed- air moving across the surface of the planet or through the atmosphere at a speed fast enough to be noticed 11. Current- a steady flow of water or air in one direction 12. Meteorologist- Someone who specializes in meteorology (the scientific study of the Earth's atmosphere)
