MEDIA INFORMATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 19, 2011 Career Center Color Guard wins first Varsity trophy JACKSON, Mich. – Jackson Area Career Center’s Army JROTC color guard team took home the Golden Knights’ first varsity trophy from the season-ending drill and ceremony championships at Dearborn Heights Robichaud High School on Saturday, Jan. 15. “This by far was our cadets’ best competition ever,” said Tom Emond, Army JROTC instructor. “Our cadets have never won more than one trophy in a single competition before, and on Saturday, our Golden Knights won three, with one in the varsity category – also something we have never done before.” The Varsity Color Guard finished in second place and earned the Golden Knights’ first varsity trophy. The team consisted of cadets Ollie Wilkie (team captain) Keon Aguilar, and Stephen Dulworth from Jackson High, and Shawn Piper from Northwest. The LET 1 (first-year cadets) Color Guard team also took second-place honors. The team included Kaela Ramey (team captain) from Jackson High, Maura Adams from East Jackson, along with Aguilar and Dulworth. The LET 1 Squad Drill team finished in third place. The team consisted of team captain Tabitha Sherwood from Michigan Center, Jordan Little from Grass Lake, Jordan Owens from Napoleon, Brandon Boyers from Western, as well as Ramey, Dulworth, and Piper.
